For those interested, we have an 'official' coat-of-arms. My dad was big into this. I don't know why (or how, because of the island thing!), but here it is anyway, enjoy!

I am really fuzzy about the story, but here goes:

Once long ago, in a faraway place, there existed an island in the philipine-chain called 'Basco Island' (Our kids found it on our world-globe as one of the northern islands). On this island existed a peaceful native people, living care-free in their own world, watching the shining sea roll back-and-forth on the sandy beaches outside homes made by loving hands, or hearing the quiet of the solitary bird chirping while working in their rice paddies, under a warm noonday sun.

But, the island was ideally situated for the distribution of contraband. This 'situation' garnered the attention of organized crime whom decided to hire mercenaries to take over the island, and was willing to go to any length to to get rid of the native island people. Even though the inhabitants were peaceful, I understand that it took while, but the islanders were eventually kicked off the island.

The deposed were scatted, but before they left, they decided that eventhough they had to leave their island-home behind, they would rember it by taking its name as their own, and no matter where they went, they would raise their children to become intellectually, physically and spiritually the best they could be, becoming teachers, doctors and scientists. And that one day, after the criminals have left, they would come back home, rebuild their lands, and again see the shining sea from their homes.

THE END.
